Doukoukui Shenma Marshal, also known as Ma Sheng, was given the taboo "Xu" by the Jade Emperor. He was also known as Zhengyi Lingguan Ma Tianjun, Wuxian Huaguang Emperor, and Taiyi Leisheng Budong Tianzun. Marshal Ma is one of the four guardian gods of Taoism. According to legend, he was transformed from the sixth star of the Southern Dipper. He was born with three heads and nine eyes. He holds a jade halberd and a golden brick in his hands and rides a fire rhinoceros. He drives away evil spirits, cures epidemics, eliminates demons, and saves all living beings. Marshal Ma followed Emperor Wenchang Zi Tong and after he accomplished his mission and virtue, he was ordered by the emperor to guard Dou Que and became the commander-in-chief of the Beiji Tiangang.
